A School with Identity

samai runa refers to the set of values of our people
For our people it is of vital importance to have accsess to a school and college located in the region, which is in relation with our knowledge, with our culture, and with our original languages saberes,con nuestra cultura,con nuestra lengua originaria
The reality today
In this moment, there is a bilingual primary school at 3km distance to our community. This school will soon be closed by order of the ministry of education.
The other existing schools do not possess any trait of our cultural identity, they are in no way connected to our roots. Our young people, graduating from these institutions, have very little prospect of finding a job.
The system of education is very poor: There is no space for artistic expression and no opportunity for expressions of our culture and identity.
We are experiencing the process of occidentalization at a faster and faster pace, which has devastating affects on the legacy of our ancestors.

Building up a dream
At this moment, we are building the school, advancing little by little, with the resources we are able to bring together from the fruits of our work. We are very grateful to ht esupport we have recieved from friends from other countries, who have lend us their hands.

Situation in 2013
Preparing for the laying of foundation
After a lot of work we manage to level and prepare the basis with machines in order to consolidate the future of our school.
Final Legalization in 2015
Processes of bureaucracy
After three years of never ending bureaucratic obstacles, the kichwa people of San Pablo, together with the foundation Kausari, finally managed to buy and legalize the land for the contruction of the school center.
We start advancing in 2016
The first buildings
This year, we are starting the first buildings. We have put down the first symbolical stone with our friends and the community.
